Other technological advances made during the Paleolithic era were clothing and shelter; the adoption of both technologies cannot be dated exactly, but they were a key to humanity's progress. As the Paleolithic era progressed, dwellings became more sophisticated and more elaborate; as early as 380 ka, humans were constructing temporary wood huts. [30] [31] Clothing, adapted from the fur and hides of hunted animals, helped humanity expand into colder regions; humans began to migrate out of Africa by 200 ka and into other continents such as Eurasia . [32]

Another effect of technology addiction is mental problems. Many individuals suffer from physiological problems that affect them on a daily basis.   According to the American Psychiatric Association, “research has shown that internet addiction affects areas in the brain that control attention, executive control, and emotion processing” (Walton). Technology addicts use technology to occupy themselves and zone out other individuals by using it to control their emotions and brain. Technology is taking over people’s mind and using it more than often is only a step towards addiction.  Furthermore, many technology addicts have said to be chasing a high as “technology addiction has many similar effects to many drugs like cocaine, heroin, and special K” (Walton). As with many addiction problems the user usually does it to cope with problems like stress, loneliness, depression, and anxiety. People addicted to technology should not use technology to manage these feelings they need to talk about it and get the help needed.  Technology addicts can be affected mentally and instead of continuing to use it they need to realize the problems it causes and maintain their usage.

As our society continues to become more technologically advanced, technology addiction will continue to become more prevalent. Technology addiction is defined as the uncontrollable overuse of technological devices including smart phones, computers, and gaming systems. Individuals who tend to develop technology addiction typically display signs of underlying mental health issues, tend to shy away from social contact, and experience increased levels of stress and may be considered possible causes of technology addiction. Risk factors for the development of technology addiction are associated with gender, mental health issues, and concurrent addictions.

Write down times throughout the day when you plan to take technology breaks, says Craig Donovan , Director of the BA/MPA Honors Program at Keane University in New Jersey. For example, you could commit to taking a break from 3 to 3:15 . on workday afternoons, during which time you turn off your phone and put it out of sight and out of reach. “Plan a specific activity to do during those 15 minutes, such as getting up and going for a [mindful] walk,” Donovan says. You can reward yourself with a small treat such as a cookie or a cup of coffee. Try to add additional times away from technology, such as during meals, and pay attention to what is going on around you.
